Cancer Society of GB Thanks Sunshine Insurance

The president of the Cancer Society of Grand Bahama, Lorine Miller on Thursday visited Sunshine Insurance (Agents & Brokers) Ltd. to thank the company for its recent donation to her charity.

At the start of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the company, which is the lead sponsor and organizer of Sunshine Insurance Race Weekend (SIRW), donated $50,000 to four cancer charities.

Ms. Miller’s organization received $12,500.

She thanked Sunshine Insurance for its donation and support.

“Because of socially responsible organizations such as yourselves, your courtesies aided our ability to meet our purpose and mandate to advocate, educate, create cancer awareness and help those affected, as we are registered, non-profit voluntary organization,” she said.

“The funds were used to assist Grand Bahamians with screening programs, which consist of pap smears, mammograms, PSA testing and breast examinations. We also provide airline tickets and house cancer patients at our Cancer Center.”

Ms. Miller presented a framed poster of the names and colors of cancer to Sunshine Insurance Marketing Coordinator, Rogan Smith, as a token of appreciation.
